Question 1

Do we make both manual and solar-powered spray races?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely! We make both manual spray races and solar-powered ones – perfect for farms off the grid. No electricity? No problem!

Question 2

1. How do I know what size Volt Wagon I need?

Accepted Answer

The right size depends on what equipment you want to power, how much electricity it requires, how long it needs to operate, and whether there are high starting loads such as pumps or motors. We calculate these requirements and recommend the most suitable system.

Question 3

Can one Volt Wagon power multiple pieces of equipment?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Volt Wagon can power multiple devices simultaneously, provided the total electrical load remains within the system's capacity.

Question 4

Can a Volt Wagon run electric motors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Electric motors can be powered successfully when the inverter and battery system are correctly sized to handle both the running load and the higher starting current.

Question 5

Can I use a Volt Wagon for irrigation pumps?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Volt Wagon can be configured to power irrigation pumps and other agricultural equipment, depending on the motor specifications and operating requirements.

Question 6

What information do I need before requesting a quotation?

Accepted Answer

Providing the following information helps us size the correct system:Equipment to be poweredMotor or appliance ratingsOperating hours per dayPhotos of equipment rating platesSite locationAny future expansion plans

Question 7

Can the Volt Wagon be customised?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every Volt Wagon is designed around the customer's specific power requirements, allowing the system to match the application rather than using a one-size-fits-all solution.

Question 8

Is a larger system always better?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. Oversizing can increase costs unnecessarily, while undersizing may not provide sufficient power. The goal is to select the system that best matches your requirements.

Question 9

Which industries use Volt Wagon?

Accepted Answer

Volt Wagon is suitable for agriculture, construction, mining, events, remote sites, emergency backup, boreholes, irrigation systems, workshops and many other off-grid applications.

Question 10

Can solar power run a centre pivot irrigation system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A properly designed solar power system can operate many centre pivot irrigation systems, provided it is correctly sized for the pump, motor and irrigation requirements.

Question 11

Is solar cheaper than running a diesel generator?

Accepted Answer

Although the initial investment may be higher, solar power typically offers significantly lower operating costs because there is no ongoing fuel consumption and maintenance requirements are reduced.

Question 12

What information is needed to size a system for my centre pivot?

Accepted Answer

We typically require:Pump make and modelMotor sizeMotor rating plateHours of operationCentre pivot detailsExisting generator size (if applicable)Photos of the installation

Question 13

We typically require: Pump make and model Motor size Motor rating plate Hours of operation Centre pivot details Existing generator size (if applicable) Photos of the installation

Accepted Answer

Depending on the power requirements and operating schedule, a Volt Wagon may be moved between multiple pivots or used for several farming applications.

Question 14

What happens during cloudy weather?

Accepted Answer

Battery storage helps maintain power during periods of reduced sunlight. Each system is designed according to the customer's operating requirements and local conditions. There is also option to charge it with electricity or generator if its extremely cloudy.

Question 15

Is a mobile solar system better than installing permanent solar panels?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the application. A mobile system offers flexibility because it can be moved between different locations on the farm, making it suitable where power is required in multiple areas.

Question 16

Is generator fuel the biggest operating cost?

Accepted Answer

Fuel is often the largest single expense, but servicing, repairs, labour, downtime and fuel transport also contribute significantly to the total cost of ownership.

Question 17

Can solar completely replace a diesel generator?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the application. Some businesses can operate primarily on solar, while others benefit from reducing generator run time rather than eliminating it completely.

Question 18

Does Volt Wagon require diesel?

Accepted Answer

No. Volt Wagon generates electricity from solar panels and stores energy in batteries. Diesel is not required for normal operation.

Question 19

What is clean power?

Accepted Answer

In this context, clean power means stable, controlled electricity that meets the voltage, frequency and power-quality requirements of the equipment being supplied.

Question 20

Is generator power “dirty power”?

Accepted Answer

Not necessarily. A correctly sized, properly maintained generator can provide good-quality electricity. Problems can arise from poor sizing, overloading, maintenance issues or unsuitable power quality.

Question 21

Can poor power quality damage electric motors?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Problems such as voltage imbalance, transients and excessive harmonics can increase heat and electrical stress and contribute to premature motor failure.

Question 22

Can generator frequency fluctuate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Frequency variation can occur with generator systems, particularly under heavy or changing loads, and this can affect motor-driven equipment.

Question 23

Why is voltage balance important for three-phase equipment?

Accepted Answer

Voltage imbalance can produce disproportionately high current imbalance, increasing heat, vibration and stress on three-phase motors.

Question 24

Is inverter power automatically suitable for a centre pivot?

Accepted Answer

No. The complete system needs to be correctly sized and configured for the pivot's electrical requirements, including starting and running loads.

Question 25

Does a Volt Wagon still require diesel?

Accepted Answer

During normal solar and battery operation, the Volt Wagon does not need diesel to generate electricity.

Question 26

Can a Volt Wagon replace every generator?

Accepted Answer

Not automatically. The suitability of a Volt Wagon depends on the load, operating hours and application. The system needs to be assessed and sized accordingly.

Question 27

Why choose mobile solar instead of permanent solar?

Accepted Answer

Mobility allows the power asset to be relocated between suitable applications rather than remaining permanently fixed to one location.

Question 28

How do I know what size Volt Wagon I need?

Accepted Answer

Start with the electrical specifications of the equipment you want to power. Volt Wagon can then assess those requirements and recommend an appropriate configuration.
